The Three Marias: A Legacy of Heart, A Vision for Learning

Maria Rosario (1968 – The Beginning)

Maria Rosario (1968 – The Beginning)
Galileo Learning Center carries a legacy that began in 1968 under a different name — Sacred Heart School. It started with a mother’s simple wish: to give her daughter a preschool close to home, where children could learn with warmth and strong values.
In 1968, Maria Rosario “Charito” Tambunting Juan turned that dream into reality with the help of a close friend who shared her passion for education. By a lucky coincidence, a close friend who was moving abroad offered her classroom materials and furniture, helping her bring that dream to life. With one teacher, her daughter, and a few cousins as the first students, the small class quickly grew to 30 children by the end of the first year, and more than 50 the next.
From its earliest days, Sacred Heart School was known not only for academics but for the character and values it instilled in every child.

Under her leadership, the school expanded its programs, bringing in a well-known after-school program from Japan, opened a daycare in a mall, and in 2005 launched the Galileo Enrichment Learning Program, a Filipino initiative that made learning Math and English both fun and effective.
Maria Rowena (Expansion & Innovation)

Charito’s daughter, Maria Rowena “Rowie” Juan Matti, grew up in those same classrooms and later continued the family’s mission. After completing her studies at De La Salle University and completing Daycare Administration in San Francisco, USA, she returned home to lead the school in the 1990s.

Celina Maria (The Future of Learning)

In 2020, the third generation joined the story when Celina Maria Juan began helping run the school. By 2025, Teacher Rowie and Teacher Celina merged the legacy of Sacred Heart School with the innovation and mastery-based approach of Galileo Enrichment to form what is now Galileo Learning Center.
Today, Galileo Learning Center continues the same heart and values that began with Sacred Heart School. Now with a modern curriculum, it offers Preschool, Daycare, After-school Math, English, and Singapore Math Enrichment and Tutorial, with extended hours for busy families, and a focus on emotional well-being and play. It is a place where tradition meets innovation, and every child is encouraged to grow at their own pace, with curiosity, confidence, and joy.
